How can I report a fraudulent lender?
Fraudulent lenders can be reported to multiple agencies: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at consumerfinance.gov/complaint handles mortgage and loan complaints; the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov handles general fraud; your state's Department of Financial Institutions or Banking regulates state-licensed lenders; the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) handles complaints related to FHA-approved lenders; and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3.gov) handles online fraud. If you lost money, also contact your state attorney general's consumer protection division. Provide as much documentation as possible Γ’β¬β contracts, correspondence, bank records, and names of individuals involved.
