How can I report a fraudulent lender?

Fraudulent lenders can be reported to multiple agencies: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at consumerfinance.gov/complaint handles mortgage and loan complaints; the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov handles general fraud; your state's Department of Financial Institutions or Banking regulates state-licensed lenders; the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) handles complaints related to FHA-approved lenders; and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3.gov) handles online fraud. If you lost money, also contact your state attorney general's consumer protection division. Provide as much documentation as possible Ò€” contracts, correspondence, bank records, and names of individuals involved.
